Highlights of a new beginning for Rock Solid
26 September 2016
Highlights this term have been: the incredibly friendly and enthusiastic welcome by all pupils and staff, both old and new; facing the challenges of new schools and new time schedules and knowing that God is at work; and of course wonderful conversations about Jesus!
It is such a blessing to be running 7 clubs again.
At most schools the young people now bring their lunch which is a new and exciting development. Chat time has increased and they love the craft which always has a link to the Bible teaching, helping them to remember what they have learnt. Longer time with the young people has also meant picking up on a few pastoral issues where it has been great to pass information on to the school to follow up (with very positive outcomes).
One week we asked the question “Have you ever met someone who has changed your life in a good way?”. I was humbled when one girl said that I had changed her life in a good way. I was able to share about the person I met who prompted me to give my life to Jesus. Please pray for her. She remembered very clearly a testimony I had shared about angels a few years ago. We sometimes don’t realise how much they take in. A year 11 student comes along to help at one club and she said “I met Jesus”. This started a barrage of questions!! “How can you have met Jesus?”. I was shocked the other week when one girl asked me why I talk about myself so much. I came to the conclusion that she meant when I share my personal experiences of faith in Jesus (which I have done almost every week this term!). I just love the opportunities to share and discuss the Bible and to come alongside young people wherever they are in their experience of God.
It was a real privilege to be part of Prayspace at Horringer Court again this year where we were able to build our links with the pupils and staff on a daily basis and spend more time with Rock Solid young people in a prayerful environment.
I thank God for an incredible term of new beginnings and thank you for your prayers!
